A Celebration with Music

Papa has always been one who enjoys music. While some may refer to his tastes as old fashioned, boring or even odd, the uplifting quality of the music he truly enjoys is undoubted. On October 17th, Erlanger Christian Church was kind enough to host a small concert for Papa, at his wish. He picked out several songs from some of his favorite albums over the years, and Barry, Keith, Daniel, Katie and Abby Knapp, along with  Dottie, Laura and Kyle Durham performed in front of a pretty packed house. Also, the Erlanger Christian Church choir joined for a few numbers making this concert one that all who attended will remember for a lifetime. Not for the quality or the fun that was had on stage, but for the obvious joy that was felt by Papa as he sat in his recliner at the foot of the Sanctuary’s stage with a full house of family and friends behind him.

As one of the performers, and as one who has spent a lot of time hackling Papa for his love of Tenessee Ernie Ford’s music, I want to extend a special thanks to all who attended. It was certainly a blessing to be able to share this time with Papa.

Please feel free to submit any comments or special memories you have of this concert! Papa is always amazed by the capability of this format and loves reading the comments people post.

That concert was so fun! The youth group had fun practicing camp songs and teaching new kids the motions. That part felt like a good “break” from the more serious, sad songs. I think by then everyone was ready for a laugh & Daniel (Martin) loved being in charge of doing all the funny extra parts in songs.

This is a really great idea for a site, by the way! We use WordPress in my sociology class, it’s neat!
